A Dream Wedding, Courtesy of Danny Bonaduce

Local couple wins a magical day through 94WYSP contest.

Rebecca Browning Hess Greenhow always knew she wanted a fairy-tale wedding.

Her dream came true—and was all planned within seven days!

On Feb. 11, Rebecca married long-time boyfriend, Justin Greenhow, after winning a promotion valued at more than $45,000 with 94WYSP called “I Do With Danny.”

Rebecca and Justin, who met while both were at West Chester University, became engaged in December. The couple had begun planning a June 2012 wedding to take place on the grounds of Browning-Hess Farm, owned by the bride’s family in Moorestown.

“I listen to the (Danny Bonaduce) show almost every morning,” said Justin, 27, who grew up in Paoli, PA. “When I heard about the contest, I thought, why not.”

More than 900 couples submitted details about their relationships, including how long they have been together, how well they know each other and why they should be honored.

“Justin came home from work,” said Rebecca, 24, and casually mentioned that “he had entered us in a contest to win a dream wedding.”

The couple went to bed and, literally, forgot about it.

Two weeks later, on Feb. 2, the couple heard they were selected as one of five finalists. The next two days “were crazy." Along with the other contestants, Justin and Rebecca  played the Soon-to-Be-Newlywed game on-air. Within 24 hours, they found out they had won.

“This is the first time we held a wedding promotion,” said Jeff Sottolano, program director of the radio station. “We certainly were looking for a couple who had a compelling story—we felt we found them when we met Rebecca and Justin.”

So true.

Come mid-March, Justin, who has been with the Air National Guard for more than seven years, is scheduled to be deployed to Afghanistan, while Rebecca will remain behind.

“Because I will be leaving, we had thought about having a quick ceremony at the courthouse,” said Justin. “But, I knew that Rebecca wanted a magical affair.”

And, magical is what they got.

The wedding reception for 200 was celebrated at the White Clay Creek Country Club near Wilmington, with Danny Bonaduce officiating. The former Partridge Family actor turned radio host is a Universal Life Church minister. Rebecca’s home-town minister also presided over the nuptials.

Bonaduce, who stayed at the reception for the evening, “was hilarious at times,” said Rebecca, “but very respectful with Justin, knowing that he was in the military.”

How do you plan a wedding in less than seven days?

“Justin and Rebecca got the word out through Facebook and texting, and everyone we invited came," said Debbie Browning Hess, mother of the bride. “We had six days to pick out flowers, dresses, get rings, tuxes. It was so exciting!”

Friends and relatives from as far away as Alabama, Florida and Michigan all made the reception.

Nicole Miller and Varani Formal Wear decked out the bridal party. Classic Cake, Stein Your Florists Co., Bernie Robbins and K & K Photography also partnered with 94WYSP for the promotion.

While Justin is in Afghanistan, Rebecca, a speech therapist, will live in Manayunk. When he returns this July,  the couple hopes to put down permanent roots, maybe in South Jersey.

“Since we didn’t have to pay for a wedding,” said Rebecca, “the money we saved is going right toward a down payment on a house."
