Tired of Turning Pages?
Try out the Moorestown Library's Technology Petting Zoo starting next week and figure out which e-book or tablet is right for you.
Last week we told you about an upcoming opportunity to learn more about e-readers here at the Moorestown Library. We’re now ready to welcome you to come and meet the e-readers!
From 1-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, Moorestown Library is kicking off its Technology Petting Zoo. If you’re thinking about buying an e-book reader or tablet, come to the library to try them out and compare their features before you buy. Library staff will be on hand to demonstrate how to download free e-books to iPads, Kindles, a Nook and a Samsung Galaxy tablet.
If you’re intrigued by the possibilities of e-readers but reluctant to invest money in all the books you want to read, we can help. Moorestown Library subscribes to Overdrive, a collection of downloadable e-books and audiobooks. They are available free to Moorestown Library patrons in good standing. From our library website you can “check out” e-books using your Moorestown Library card and then read them on your e-reader. There are titles in the Overdrive collection for Kindles, Nooks, iPads, Galaxies and more. Once checked out, the title will be available for seven or 14 days (your choice) and then disappear from your e-reader. No need to “return” it, and no possibility of overdue fines!
After Oct. 10, the e-readers will be available to Moorestown Library cardholders in good standing for use in the library (just like at the zoo, you can’t take the monkeys home with you). Stop by the reference desk and we will arrange an “in-library” loan for up to two hours so that you may have time to explore the features of the e-reader you choose. If you need help navigating the readers, you can sign up for an individual training session with the library staff.
The technology petting zoo is available thanks to a program through the New Jersey State Library and will be open until Nov. 14.
