Two Moorestown Women Receive County Honor

Jocelyn Ann Mitchell-Williams (Cooper Medical School) and Marianne Aleardi (SJ Magazine) will be recognized as Outstanding Women of Burlington County.

Two Moorestown women have been chosen by the Burlington County Advisory Council Women for its Outstanding Women Awards.

Jocelyn Ann Mitchell-Williams and Marianne Aleardi were selected among seven other women to receive the prestigious honor tonight at a special awards banquet at Merion Caterers in Cinnaminson.

Mitchell-Williams, the associate dean for multicultural and community affairs at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU), said she’s humbled by the recognition.

“I’m very touched by it. I’m not somebody who accepts public recognition easily,” she said. “To me, I essentially do what I think is my responsibility as a physician, and that’s provide great care to patients.”

According to a release from the county, Mitchell-Williams leads CMSRU’s efforts in “establishing joint initiatives with hospitals, educational institutions, and community organizations to improve the health outreach and educational opportunities in Camden and surrounding communities.”

She has been working at the medical school since 1997 and with the university since 2010. Mitchell-Williams, who grew up in Burlington County, and her husband, Channel 6ABC news anchor Rick Williams, have lived in Moorestown since 1999.

Just hours away from receiving her award, Mitchell-Williams said she’s grateful for the opportunity to be recognized for doing something positive.

“It just makes me feel good,” she said.

Aleardi is the editor and co-owner of SJ Magazine. The county release states Aleardi is being commended for her “commitment to promoting the contributions of women throughout Southern New Jersey” through a number of editorial features.

Aleardi could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.
