What's Sustainable Moorestown? Come and Find Out

An initial open house for the fledgling initiative will be held at William Allen Middle School Thursday night.

If so, Thursday night is your chance to learn more during an at .

Chet Dawson, chair of the township’s Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC), said the gathering will be primarily informative, with presentations from representatives of Sustainable Cherry Hill, which recently became certified.

Among other advantages—energy audits, support for local farmers—certification provides access to grants and identifies other funding opportunities, Dawson said. 

That’s what Moorestown is seeking, but one of the first steps to get there is the formation of a 10-person steering committee, which is the other goal of Thursday’s meeting, Dawson said.

He said the organizers behind Sustainable Moorestown have invited various groups around town to the meeting, including members of local churches and past and .

“We hope to have (the meeting) last a while,” said Dawson. “It’s open-ended. It’ll last as long as people want it to.”

The open house starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the middle school auditorium.

Those who can’t make the meeting can still volunteer by notifying Tom Ford, the township’s director of community development, at tford@moorestown.nj.us.
