Mount Holly, NJ – Burlington County Freeholder Leah Arter presented the Burlington County College (BCC) Barons men’s soccer team a proclamation Tuesday night in recognition of the team’s most successful season in nearly two decades.

The team was honored at the college’s Board of Trustees meeting.

The Barons (15-3-3) advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) championship tournament for the first time since 1996, ending the season as the 11th ranked Division I team in the country.

Head Coach Craig Dewar, who was a player when the team last reached the national finals 17 years ago, Captain Jack Verth, the first BCC Baron soccer player to be named an All-American since 1996, and several team players accepted the accolades and displayed the plaque won in the tournament held in Tyler, Texas, in November.

“The entire team is grateful for the support provided by the Burlington County Freeholders, Burlington County College and so many in the community who cheered us on,” Dewar said. “We are proud of our accomplishments from last fall and look forward to the challenge of advancing further next season.”
