SJYPA’s 5th Annual Halo Ball Raises $38,118 for the Kroc Center Scholarship Fund

The Salvation Army in Camden was honored to receive a check from the South Jersey Young Professionals Association (SJYPA) on March 27, 2014 for $38,118. These proceeds were from fundraising efforts for the group’s 5th Annual Halo Ball, held this past February. SJYPA was proud to count Annie Mac Home Mortgage, TD Bank, Lincoln Mortgage Company, Archer & Greiner, Wired 96.5, and Superstar Entertainment among this year’s generous Halo Ball sponsors.

All of these proceeds will be going towards the Kroc Center Scholarship Fund for The Salvation Army’s Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, due to open this October in Camden. When completed, the Kroc Center will be a 120,000-square foot facility in the heart of the Cramer Hill neighborhood of the city, which will include a full size gymnasium, an indoor competition pool and water park, black box theater, community gathering plaza, learning center, culinary arts teaching kitchen, choice food pantry, early childhood education center, youth center, senior center, athletic fields, health clinic and more.

About the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center:
After receiving a bequest of $1.6 billion from the estate of Mrs. Joan Kroc, The Salvation Army chose Camden as one of twenty-six locations to receive funds to build a Kroc Center in 2006. Opening in October 2014, the Kroc Center is a 120,000 square foot state-of-the-art center on a 24-acre campus, providing recreational, health, educational, cultural, family and spiritual programming to the Camden community.  The facility includes a Black Box Theater, Water Park, Pool, Commercial Kitchen, Youth and Senior Centers, Chapel, Field House, Fitness Center, Choice Food Pantry, Early Childhood Education Center and much more.  Outdoor amenities will include a Soccer field and two Baseball Fields.
