Tree Pruning Project

This summer the Moorestown Tree Planting and Preservation Committee, with the help of many volunteers, completed the Tree Inventory. The data from the Inventory is used to track the health and placement of our street trees and is an important part of our Tree Management Plan.

Next, they began a Tree Pruning Project, which they tested last summer on Main Street. Again using volunteers, each Thursday morning (weather permitting, through October) they go to areas of town identified by the Committee and trim low hanging branches to improve the health of the street trees and the appearance of the neighborhood. The trimmed branches are left by the curb to be picked up by Public Works on the next brush pick up date. The areas are selected and done with the brush pick up calendar in mind to ensure brush is not left in an area for too long.

So if you see a group of people trimming your neighborhood street trees, or placing the branches by the curb... wave and say thank you! These are your neighbors, improving your neighborhood.
