Fourth of July Parade to Be Held Again

The MBA will host this year's parade, which will have a 1776 theme.

The Moorestown Fourth of July Parade will be back this year.

The Moorestown Business Association will host the event, which will include a storefront decoration contest to be judged on July 2.

“Dave Schill asked about bring it back,” MBA President Mark Morgan said. “This is a great idea and a wonderful event for Moorestown. Dave is the perfect guy to run this. I have great faith in what Dave Schill can do.”

The parade will have a 1776 theme, as will the fundraising to run the parade.

There are three levels of giving:

Schill is hoping neighborhoods will get together and create floats with the 1776 theme to be part of the parade.

The parade will step off at noon July 4, heading south on Chester Avenue to Main Street and then West on Main Street, ending at the corner of Church and Main streets.

“This is designed to bring people to downtown,” said Schill.

The Fourth of July Parade will join the MBA’s Halloween Parade and the Lions Club’s Holiday Parade.

“It’s nice to have one in the summer,” said Morgan. “You don’t have to be bundled up. We’re going to make it as great a parade as possible this year.”

Does this mean the parade is back for good?

"We'll see how it works out," said Morgan. "Assuming it works well, we'll continue it."

The parade committee is looking for volunteers to serve on the committee and also work the day of the parade. Participants are also needed. If you are interested in helping with the parade or want to be in the parade, contact Dave Schill.

Donations can be sent to the MBA, P.O. Box 358, Moorestown, NJ 08057, with Fourth of July Parade as the notation.

“This is a very worthy cause,” said Schill. “If we can’t celebrate our freedom, we don’t deserve it.”
