Katz JCC to Host JCC Maccabi Games in South Jersey This Summer

The largest annual gathering of Jewish athletes in the world takes place in Cherry Hill Aug. 10-15.

The Katz Jewish Community Center (Katz JCC) will host the largest annual gathering of Jewish athletes in the world this summer.

Katz JCC will host the JCC Maccabi Games in Cherry Hill and communities throughout southern New Jersey on Aug. 10-15.

Katz JCC will play host to over 1,000 athletes from across the United States, Mexico, Great Britain and Israel in addition to over 200 local athletes.

Over 2,500 local volunteers and 400 host families are needed to help with the event that will showcase the community to over 10,000 spectators from across the United States and abroad.

During the JCC Maccabi Games, these young athletes will compete in Olympic-style competitions, participate in community service projects and enjoy getting to know their fellow athletes during a variety of social events.

“Whether you have a few hours, a day or several days to volunteer, we can find a way for everyone to play a meaningful role in this once in a lifetime experience," said Mark Dannenbaum, Games Chair.

Among the wide variety of volunteers being sought are those with experience in the medical field, marketing, sports officiating, scorekeeping, hospitality, clerical, social media and more.” Jewish families are also being sought to house athletes who are arriving from outside our community.
