Moorestown Parks and Rec: Now's a Good Time to Start Your Summer Job Search

It’s February.  Everyone is busy making (or breaking) resolutions, clearing the slate and thinking about summer.  That’s right – warmer breezes, bright sun and for most, gainful employment or meaningful volunteer opportunities.

While many students may not be thinking any further ahead than their next exam date or next project due, the Moorestown Department of Parks & Recreation is already preparing for a fantastic summer filled with activities for residents of all ages.

This includes hiring staff and volunteers to help facilitate so many of the programs that are offered to local residents.  From the Summer Parks Program (Theater included) to sports camps and lessons, the Department of Parks & Recreation has something for everyone!

The Department of Parks & Recreation Counselor in Training (CIT) Program is one of the most sought after volunteer opportunities during the summer months.  CIT’s are hired as volunteers to assist Counselors and Site Supervisors in overseeing the nearly 500 youth who attend the Summer Parks Program (SPP) or other Recreation activities during the summer months.

CITs are hired with the intent of training them to become paid Counselors once they are old enough to work. The CIT program, which has been in existence for the last 7 years, has had a successful rate of rehires during the course of the program.
