Percheron Park Supporters Raise Nearly $30,000

For $250, you can have your name forever etched in stone on Main Street.

Interested in immortalizing your name on Moorestown's Main Street?

For a mere $250, you can—and at the same time support a worthy cause.

In order to entice potential donors, the Friends of Percheron Park are offering residents the chance to have their name, or the name of a loved one or a business or their family, engraved on the stone sitting wall that will mark the edge of the park, according to Julie Maravich, a member of the Percheron Park Committee.

"There'll be a lot of square footage on it," she said, suggesting a wedding congratulations as one example of the kind of message donors could have engraved on the wall.

The various price points dictate the size of the engraving: $250 gets you a 2-inch high etching; $500 gives you 3 inches; and for $1,000 you get 4 inches.

"A really nice gift for somebody would be a $250 engraving," said Maravich. "It's immortalizing their name essentially. It'll be there forever."

The engravings are aimed at drawing in donors who want to support the project, but are perhaps on a budget. The Friends of Percheron Park will also accept $4,000 (historic marker), $5,000 (park bench) and $10,000 (Percheron horse statue) donations.

. Nearly half of that is for the statute alone, Maravich said.

So far, they've raised approximately $27,000—$12,000 from the postcards that were mailed out recently, and $15,000 in pledges.
