Registration Ongoing for Multiple Parks and Recreation Programs

Time to register for indoor tennis and pickleball.

As we suffer through another round of winter weather we turn our sites to fairer skies and spring activities!  The Moorestown Department of Parks & Recreation is pleased to announce its spring line-up of activities and classes.  Arts & Crafts will offer two sessions and is available to youth ages Kindergarten through 4th grade.  Session I is March 1- April 5 and Session II April 26-June 7.

Girls Be Fit kicks off another round starting as early as February 18 and is available at various locations. Girls Recreation Lacrosse League is registering now and begins Wednesday March 12 through May 11.

Recreation indoor tennis is also under way – get your spring swing on. Session II starts Monday February 10th through March 10th and Session III begins Monday, March 17th through April 7th.

The Moorestown Department of Parks and Recreation is also offering pickleball for the first time.

Pickleball is a combination of tennis, ping-pong and badminton.  It is played on a court like tennis but half the size, with a wiffle ball and paddles.  Pickleball is tons of fun and easy to learn for beginners for more information, rules and videos, go to www.usapa.com

Never played?  Come try it out!  Pickleball is for anyone 14 and up.  To get a feel for it join us for a free lesson on Feb. 12, 17 and 19. The official league begins Feb. 24 and 26, every Monday and Wednesday for 8 weeks. League play is from noon-2 p.m. at the Church Street Recreation Center Gym.

Who knew that this Victorian sport would find its revival in the age of smart phones and social media?  Introductory courses are being offered in late February and early March.  For more information about all of these programs please visit www.moorestownrec.com or call 856-914-3093.
