Start a Summer Reading Adventure at Moorestown Library

Moorestown Library's summer reading program kicks off with a pirate adventure and community barbecue.

"At the Library" is a weekly column provided by the Moorestown Library staff. All information comes from library employees.

It’s a big week of events for the Moorestown Library, and YOU are invited to join in the excitement!

On Friday, the library will kick off our annual Summer Reading program for children from preschool through high school. To celebrate the start of summer, we’re hosting a grand-scale cookout for the whole family, complete with hotdogs, hamburgers, mac and cheese and dessert. After dinner, we’ll gather around to enjoy a night of good old fashioned storytelling with Don Dougherty, who will delight listeners with his pirate adventure, The Quest for the True Treasure.

Listen carefully, because each child will hear his or her name throughout the story!

The library will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and children and teens can come in any time throughout the day to register for summer reading and start reporting on their books.
We’ll reopen for the cookout at 6 p.m., and the storytelling will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. This program is open to all Moorestown children ages 3 and up and their families. No registration is required.

Since we’re treating you to dinner on Friday, wouldn’t you like another night of from cooking on Monday? On Monday, June 24, Iron Hill Brewery will host a “Give 20” night to support the Moorestown Library. Pick up a voucher at the library and present it when you dine at Iron Hill Brewery on Monday, June 24. They will generously donate 20 percent of your bill, minus alcohol, to the Moorestown Library.

It’s a delicious way to help us continue to provide you with great programs and services.
