Arts center to celebrate building's 100th anniversary with fundraising campaign.

Perkins Center for the Arts received a $20,000 grant from Holman Enterprises.

Perkins, which offers arts instruction, performance, programming and community engagement will dedicate $10,000 of the award toward general operations; an additional $10,000 will serve as a lead gift in the Perkins Center’s Centennial Campaign.

“This New Year’s gift from Holman Enterprises is incredible,” said Alan Willoughby, executive director of Perkins Center for the Arts. “Combining support for ongoing operations and for much needed building repairs is a dream come true, ensuring that Perkins Center can continue to offer the very best instruction and presentations in the arts in our region.”

As part of the 100th anniversary of the Perkins Memorial, a Centennial Campaign has been established to raise funds for major repairs and upkeep to the main building and carriage house, ensuring their restoration and use for the next 100 years.

The board of trustees and the 100th Anniversary Committee has set a goal of raising $100,000 in 2011. Restorative work will include a new roof, exterior painting, upgraded lighting and improved accessibility. Perkins Center’s Tudor-style manor house and carriage building are registered on the National and State Registers of Historic and is a recognized landmark in Moorestown.
