See Ocean City Girl as Guest Star on 'Raising Hope' Tuesday Night

Molly Morgen Lamont also appeared on 'Modern Family' on Feb. 6.

A 12-year-old Ocean City girl will be a guest star Tuesday night (Feb. 19) on FOX-TV's "Raising Hope."

Molly Morgen Lamont will portray a 13-year-old Hope in a flash-forward episode titled "Arbor Daze" at 8:30 p.m. (FOX appears as Channel 5 on Ocean City's Comcast network).

She also appeared as Clara in a "Modern Family" episode titled "A Slight at the Opera" on ABC.

Lamont will star in the feature film "Abner, the Invisible Dog," a comedy also starring David DeLuise and a 185-pound English sheepdog. The film will be released later in 2013.

The acting roles are the result of 18 months of hard work for a girl who finished fifth grade at Ocean City Intermediate School in 2011 and announced to her parents that she wanted to follow her heart to Hollywood. Her first triumph: convincing them to help make it happen. Lamont is the daughter of Jay and Linda Lamont of Valmar Court in Ocean City.

"She decided early in her life that it was an 'actor's life for her,' " Linda Lamont said. "It was a big sacrifice to pull up roots and make the 3,000-mile move, but one she said she was willing to make. Leaving behind, friends, family, and everything she had come to know, she planted herself in a small town north of Los Angeles and began the long process of training and auditioning which would ultimately lead to her success."

When she lived in Ocean City, Molly was involved in local theater productions and school shows, in addition to some acting and voice training with Nancy Fox at Fox Vocal Arts of Ocean City, according to her mother. But she headed west with relatively little experience.

"It's a tough business — very few 'fall into it,' " Linda said. "You have to be willing to spend countless hours training, coaching, studying scripts and fighting the famous L.A. traffic to get a precious three minutes in front of a casting director."

While Jay Lamont, a retired radio host and restaurant owner, remains in Ocean City, Linda is in California navigating that L.A. traffic five days a week and helping to home-school Molly as she pursues her dream. The Lamonts were together in Ocean City for 17 days over the holidays.

Between projects, Molly is actively involved in a local theater company. She says she would love to do Broadway one day.

In the meantime, this time of year is called "pilot season," when all the new pilots are being cast for the coming year, and Molly is actively auditioning right now for several.
