This unique event takes place Saturday, September 21 on the beautiful five-acre Perkins Center property. Paul Canton III, Perkins Board member initiated the event along with a group of friends and colleagues, many of whom had bonded over the Zelley Park playground re-build project.

“Enthusiasm for the event is high,” says Canton. Teams are still welcome to sign-up for a chance to compete against Darren’s Angels, the Central Avenue Bashers, The Leisure Suits, The Smackdown Sisters,  Canton Custom Homers, Schnader Sluggers and the Dirty Potters of Perkins.

Team registration is $200 for a five-person team ($40 per person), which includes five official Wiffle Ball Cup T-Shirts. Teams can register for the 9 AM- 12 noon or 12 noon – 3 PM “Regular Season.”  Teams making the “Playoffs” will then participate from 3- 6 PM, with the awarding of the Wiffle Ball Cup at 6:00, to great fanfare and crowd hysteria.

Perkins Ceramic Studio manager, Paul Serena, has created a one-of-a-kind First Place Trophy that ‘s got people fired-up! The second and third place teams will also receive ceramic trophies from Perkins. All proceeds f rom the event benefit Perkins Center.

Wiffle Ball is all about making hits and catching balls. Unlike baseball and softball, there is no running of bases.. All Wiffle ball equipment – bats and balls –will be provided to teams at the event. “Baseball gloves are not needed.  Neither is prior Wiffle Ball experience, nor athletic ability of any kind, honestly!” notes Canton.

Adding to the festivities will be grilled hotdogs, and other goodies courtesy of Ott’s, gourmet coffee from Lacas, a craft table and balloon man for the kids and a pottery seconds sale.

Canton emphasizes, “This is a no-stress event. We’ll have plenty of volunteers to explain the rules and regs. Just bring your friends, family and a sense of humor.” Register now at www.perkinscenter.org and click on the blue Wiffle Ball icon.  Or stop by Perkins at 395 Kings Highway (Main Street.)
