ONE OF N.J.’s LARGEST SURGICAL PRACTICES JOINS ADVOCARE

Surgical Specialists of New Jersey includes 19 surgeons, five practices
in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Ocean counties

Marlton, NJ---January 16, 2014---
Advocare, one of the region’s biggest independent physician groups, just got bigger. Surgical Specialists of New Jersey, among the state’s largest independent practices, recently joined the Marlton-based Advocare network.

Locally, the 19-surgeon practice includes Advocare Surgical Specialists of Burlington County, with offices in Lumberton, Marlton and Willingboro. The Burlington County unit – formerly Kruger & Pacual, MDs – is operated by Drs. Christopher J. Boynton, Charles R. Hughes, Eric J. Miller and William A. Rough. Their specialties include vein, breast, colon and rectal, thoracic and bariatric surgery.

The other four practices – spread across South Jersey – offer similar specialties as well as general surgery.  As an independent practice, the group operates at various facilities and is not tied to one hospital or health system.

With the growth, Advocare now offers the expertise of over 500 providers at 96 member practices covering a wide range of specialties, as well as primary care and pediatrics.

“These five surgical practices are an exciting addition to Advocare,” said Chairman and CEO John M. Tedeschi, MD. “They will bring even greater expertise to the Advocare network, and their patients will benefit from the expanded resources that Advocare provides.”

Advocare offers many advantages to both doctors and patients, noted Dr. Boynton, who practices out of the Lumberton office.

“Advocare will help us run our practices, so we can spend more time taking care of our patients and less time with the business aspects of medicine,” he said. “And it connects us with the other Advocare members who, like us, are dedicated to best practices, continuous quality improvement and outstanding results. As part of the same network, we can share knowledge and resources that benefit our patients.”

In addition to Dr. Boynton’s group, the other new Advocare practices are:

·         Advocare Associates in General Surgery in Cherry Hill, Sewell and Stratford
(formerly Associates in General Surgery)

·         Advocare Colon & Rectal Surgical Specialists in Voorhees and Turnersville
(formerly Colon & Rectal Surgical Associates)

·         Advocare Hager Advanced Vein Care in Manahawkin
(formerly Surgical Specialists of New Jersey – Manahawkin)

·         Advocare Surgical Specialists of Washington Township  in Sewell and Voorhees
(formerly Surgical Specialists of New Jersey, Dr. Sasso & Dr. Balsama)

“More and more doctors are joining groups that manage their practices, due to the increased demands of today’s health care environment,” added Dr. Boynton. “We chose Advocare because they’re a proven leader in the field.”

He and his colleagues at Advocare Surgical Specialists of Burlington County specialize as follows:

·         William A. Rough, MD, FACS: venous disease, including varicose veins and spider veins

·         Eric J. Miller, MD, FACS: breast disease

·         Charles R. Hughes, MD, FACS, FASCRS: colon and rectal disease

·         Christopher J. Boynton, MD, FACS: laparoscopic, general, thoracic and bariatric surgery
