Voorhees Business Association Bowling Fundraiser to Benefit Eastern Education Foundation

Commerce meets the classroom amid strikes and spares March 21 at 30 Strikes Lanes in Stratford, as the Voorhees Business Association (VBA) hosts a bowling fundraiser to benefit the Eastern High School Education Foundation.

In its second year, the event helps enrich the student experience while fostering the relationship between local businesses and the community.  The Eastern Education Foundation provides funds for projects, trips, events and other educational activities that fall outside the general school budget.

“There’s a natural connection between the Voorhees business community and Eastern High School, as many of our members have children who attend there, or know kids who do,” says Maria Byrne, president of the VBA and owner of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of South Jersey.  “This is our biggest fundraising event of the year, and its success is contingent on the involvement of residents and local businesses.  It’s a fun night fueled by pizza and soda.”

The 2012 bowling event, held the evening of a major snowstorm last March, raised $5,000 for the Voorhees Middle School Theater.  Byrne is projecting a higher total this year – if the weather cooperates.

Registration for this year’s event is $20 for a single bowler, or $95 for a lane with six bowlers.  Corporate lanes are available for $150, including six bowlers, signage over the lane, pizza and soft drinks.  A business sponsorship with signage over a single lane is $100.

This year’s “Kingpin” sponsor is The Tutoring Club of Cherry Hill/Voorhees.  Other corporate sponsors include Always Best Care Senior Services, Benchmark Payment Networks/Tanker Foundation, Cartridge World, Hampton Inn of Cherry Hill and Voorhees, Liberty Bell Bank, Republic Bank, SSTI, and Investors Bank.  Media sponsor is The Sun Newspapers.

The VBA is also welcoming donations of gift baskets and other items to be auctioned or raffled during the evening.  Businesses that would like to donate should contact Maria Byrne at 856-489-8511.

The event runs from 6-8 p.m.  30 Strikes Lanes is located at 501 S. White Horse Pike (Route 30) in Stratford.  For more information or to register, visit www.voorheesbusinessassociation.org, or call 856-489-8511.  Bowlers can also register at the door.
