Today is the first day of school for Moorestown Public School District and a number of schools are located on or near North Stanwick Road, but the flooding seemed to cause few problems, according to Lieber.

"The school has been made aware of it," he said. "They're detouring around it."

As of 6:30 a.m. Thursday, several township streets were flooded and impassable, according to the township's emergency management office.

Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes. It is dangerous to drive through standing water. As the storm passes, the water is expected to subside quickly and the roads will be reopened.

If you find yourself stranded on a flooded roadway, call 911.

The following streets were closed as of 6:30 a.m.:

  • North Lenola Road at New Albany Road
  • New Albany Road at Iron Post Road
  • North Stanwick Road at various locations
