Community House Making Progress Toward Campaign Goal

Whether it's $5 or $50,000, there are plenty of ways to show your support for the Moorestown Community House.

Supporters of the Moorestown Community House are almost 25 percent of the way to their $2 million capital campaign goal, only about six months after the campaign officially went public.

Though it was unofficially launched last February—the start of the "silent period" of the campaign, according to campaign chairman Kevin Kutcher—it wasn't until Autumn in Moorestown in October that the campaign began in earnest, he said.

“We are pleased to see unprecedented progress and support from the community in helping achieve our goal to raise $2 million," he said.

The money is primarily intended for major capital improvements, including improvements to the HVAC and restrooms and resurfacing the parking lot, among other things.

Kutcher said the most recent capital improvement involved a "period-inspired flooring update" in the central foyer.

One of the primary thrusts of the campaign now is seeking large donations (i.e. $10,000+, which can be spread over a three- to five-year period) from individuals and local businesses.

So far, Kutcher said the types of donations they're receiving are "a very nice distribution" of large donations—one in excess of $100,000—and a smattering of smaller donations.

The Community House just wrapped up its biggest fundraiser of the year—the wine tasting—and is also seeking to raise money by selling limited edition replicas of the bronze monument ("Moorestown Memories") on the front lawn for $2,500 apiece.

Speaking of the monument, if you're looking to be particularly generous, the Community House is offering supporters the opportunity to have their name memorialized on the statue for $50,000, Kutcher said. There are other, cheaper naming opportunities within the Community House as well.

Through his involvement with the campaign, Kutcher said he's picked up on just how much Moorestonians see the historic structure as a vital community landmark.

Perhaps most interestingly, he said, "Relatively new people see it as that, as much as the people who have been here a generation or more."
