Construction of Town Hall Expected to Begin This Week

Township manager Scott Carew said he also expects to hear from experts about whether the township should install a temporary crosswalk on Second Street.

More than a month and a half after ground was broken, construction of the new town hall complex is expected to begin this week.

Township manager Scott Carew said Sambe Construction has received all the necessary permits to install the footings and foundation and indicated to him crews would be restarting work at the site this week.

"They have equipment on their way to the site as we speak," he said Monday.

He also expected to receive an updated construction schedule today, which would replace the outdated one posted on the township website.

Sambe has 450 days to complete construction (weather-permitting), beginning when it received a notice to proceed recently.

In addition to the updated timeline, Carew said he would be meeting today with engineer Jim Rudderman and Sgt. Randy Pugh, the Moorestown Police Department's traffic safety officer, to hear their recommendations on whether or not the township should install a temporary crosswalk for library patrons.

Carew said if Rudderman and Pugh recommend adding a second crosswalk—for library patrons to safely traverse Second Street at the municipal lot—town council would have to vote to install it.
