The Burlington County Health Department will kick off its seasonal flu campaign with two immunization clinics next Monday, Sept. 17, including one at the Moorestown Mall.
Residents will also have the added convenience of being able to schedule their appointments online this year.
“Our health professionals have told us time and again that getting vaccinated is the single best way to protect not only themselves against the flu, but also their family members and everyone they routinely come in contact with,” said Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien. “The online scheduling process should streamline things for those with computer access.”
The health department advises residents to schedule their flu shots by visiting the department’s website at co.burlington.nj.us/health. Residents who have scheduled their appointment online, and who bring the printed and completed consent form, can be “fast-tracked” through the clinic. Walk-ins are still welcome and encouraged; however, the process may take longer.
The first two clinics will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at the Moorestown Mall and Burlington Center Mall. Those with Medicare Part “B” as their primary insurance will not be charged, according to a release from the county. A $15 donation for seasonal flu vaccine is recommended for those not covered by Medicare, if residents can afford it.
Both the traditional seasonal flu vaccine and pneumonia vaccine will be offered at all of the other clinics, which run through November. Again, Medicare Part “B” can be accepted to cover the cost for seasonal flu and pneumonia vaccines. A donation of $15 for seasonal flu vaccine and $25 for pneumo is recommended for those not covered by Medicare.
Those who have Medicare coverage and belong to a managed care plan or HMO should go to their regular health care providers to receive immunizations.
