County Offering Free Flu Vaccines

Burlington County will hold free vaccination clinics during the first week of December at the Burlington Center Mall.

Throughout the first week of December, Burlington County will be offering free flu vaccinations to county residents.

The week of December 5-9 has been declared Burlington County Influenza Vaccination Week.

“The Burlington County Influenza Vaccination Week provides an important opportunity for us to tell the community how important it is to get an annual flu shot,” said Burlington County Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien. “Getting vaccinated is the single best way for people to protect not only themselves against flu, but their loved ones as well.”

Throughout that week, the Health Department will offer free vaccinations to all county residents older than 6 months at the Burlington Center Mall from noon to 6 p.m. In addition to the flu shot, the Health Department will also be offering FluZone High Dose (a flu shot designed for those over 65) vaccines.

A clinic for children who need a second dose will be held at 9 a.m. Dec. 15 in the Virtua Community Health Center at 1638 Route 38, in the Lumberton Plaza.

Numerous other partners, such as Burlington County College, are teaming up to ensure everyone in Burlington County receives a flu shot and brings “immunity to the community,” according to a county release.

Flu vaccines are available through doctors, the health department, and at local pharmacies. Many employers, schools, and colleges and universities also offer flu vaccinations.

“We encourage all Burlington County residents to take advantage of these free flu vaccinations and help stop the spread of the flu,” O’Brien said.
