Finally ... ?

Snow in the forecast this weekend, but don't get your hopes up.

Could Moorestown get its first real dose of snow this weekend? (Forget the dusting that came and went at the end of October.)

Well, sort of.

Meteorologist Kristin Kline, with the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, said the area is under a winter weather advisory beginning at 1 a.m. Saturday. Snow is expected to start falling overnight between Friday and Saturday, with accumulations between 1-3 inches.

The temperature will climb slightly during the day Saturday, changing the snow over to sleet and freezing rain.

"Depending on how high temperatures get, it may switch over to rain completely," said Kline, though she added that Moorestown is in a zone where the precipitation is expected to stay frozen.

All precipitation is expected to end before Saturday night, she said, with temperatures dropping to the mid to upper 20s—so keep an eye out for black ice.

If you've been wishing for true winter weather, Mother Nature's finally throwing you a bone. Just don't get too excited.

"This (system) will give everyone a taste of it, but we're not expecting huge amounts," Kline said.

Looks like local merchants may have to wait a bit longer to .

Burlington County has declared a Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency this weekend. A Code Blue declaration is made when winter conditions pose a threat to individuals without shelter. It provides for short-term emergency sheltering.

Individuals can call CONTACT of Burlington County at 856-234-8888 or 866-234-5006 for a list of available shelters and additional Code Blue information.

Another low-pressure system is forecast to move into the area Sunday night into Monday, but temperatures will be too high for anything but rain, according to Kline.
