Five Things You Need to Know This Week

PREIT president speaks on liquor licenses and township council meets to discuss the municipal complex and the search for a township manager.

1. Township council meets at 8 a.m. Monday (today) to discuss the municipal complex project. Ragan Design Group, the project’s architects, to council last week, each costing in the neighborhood of $18 million. Council will review those plans Monday at the in the hopes of coming to a decision that will move the project forward, according to Mayor John Button. If you’re an early riser, the meeting is open to the public.

3. Joe Coradino, president of Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT), which owns the Moorestown Mall, will be the guest speaker at the Moorestown Business Association’s (MBA) membership meeting on Wednesday at the . MBA president Mark Morgan said Coradino will speak about the liquor license referendums that will be appearing on the Nov. 8 ballot and will answer questions afterward. Coradino recently pledged PREIT would pay $4 million for four liquor licenses at the mall should the referendums pass. The meeting begins at 8 a.m. It is open to members of the association.

4. Township council meets again Wednesday to hold a special closed-door meeting to discuss the continuing search for a township manager. Tom Merchel has been serving as acting township manager since former manager Chris Schultz . Mayor Button said the township received plenty of resumes when it began advertising for the position and those were eventually pared down. There will be a public portion of the Wednesday meeting, which starts at noon, and action may be taken. The meeting will take place in the conference room of the Moorestown School District .

5. The zoning board meets once again Thursday to continue a hearing regarding to construct a 124-bed skilled nursing facility, 80-bed assisted living facility and 20 single-family homes on the DeMarco plot of land at the southwest corner of East Main Street and Marter Avenues. Several residents in that area attended a hearing last month to ask questions and express concerns about the project and the hearing had to be continued. The zoning board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room of the .
