Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Council will hold a budget workshop meeting tonight; Fullerton playground will be closed Saturday.

1.      Town Council will hold a budget workshop meeting at 6 tonight in the Media Center at the . The 2011-12 budget, as discussed at the last workshop, would see an increase of $53 for the average assessed home in Moorestown, currently $533,800. Council asked Township Manager Chris Schultz and CFO Tom Merchel to look at more ways to reduce the budget.

2.      The Moorestown Home & School Association will hold its Annual Meeting at 7:30 p.m. May 18 in the Instructional Theater. The meeting will be for the election of officers and chairpersons of standing and special committees of the Executive Committee. H&S will also present its annual budget for approval.

3.      Don’t know what to do with those old T-shirts? Bring them to the and make it a pillow. Teens can bring old shirts and transform them into something useful at 4 p.m. May 19 in the Meeting Room.

4.      The will hold its Spring Soiree from 6 to 10 p.m. May 21 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Brill, 615 Chester Ave. Tickets are $100 per person and benefit the Smith-Cadbury Porch Restoration Fund.

5.      The playground at will be closed May 21 for a . Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. until dark. Skilled and unskilled volunteers are needed. Volunteers are asked to bring wheelbarrows, drills, hammers, rakes, shovels and circular saws. Volunteers should also bring their own food, snacks and drinks.
