In Pursuit of a Better Library

The Moorestown Library will be closed Friday for a staff development day.

Mark your calendars! Moorestown Library will be closed Friday for a staff development day.

We have always prided ourselves on the service we give our patrons here at Moorestown Library. Every day we do our best to combine small-town friendliness and personal attention with professional excellence and efficiency. We're also always looking for ways to improve our service to you.

The state of New Jersey mandates that all library staff must receive professional training every year. This year we are fulfilling that requirement with a cross-training day here at the library. Every staff member will be here from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the day, we will move as a group through the library’s departments learning exactly what each one does and practicing the tasks unique to each department.

Children’s staff, Technical Services and Circulation staff will come to the Reference Department to learn how to navigate our many online databases and how to download e-books and audiobooks from our Overdrive application.

Reference, Technical Services and Circulation staff will then visit the Children’s Department to learn what is involved in story hour programming, how to help young patrons find age appropriate materials, and what the Lexile range of a book is and how to find it.

Then we all go downstairs to the Technical Services department to learn how new library materials are ordered, received, cataloged and processed and how library materials are repaired when damaged.

Lunch will include a presentation on customer service. Afterward, we will all take a trip to the Circulation Department where Technical Services, Reference and Children’s staff will practice making a library card for a new patron, checking out and in all library materials, and learn how to handle reserves, inter-library loans and more.

When we welcome you back to the library at 9 a.m. Saturday it's our plan that the service you receive will be better than ever.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
