Jury Deliberations Continue Friday in Moorestown Cop Trial

The jury on the Robert Melia and Heather Lewis case ask to rehear testimony in the case.

A jury deciding the fates of a suspended Moorestown police officer and his ex-girlfirned on sexual assault charges will continue deliberations Friday.

The jury began considering about 50 counts against Robert Melia and Heather Lewis on Wednesday. On Thursday, those deliberations continued all day, with the jury asking the court to read back several portions of testimony in the case.

Late Thursday afternoon, the panel of eight men and four women asked to hear yet more testimony read back. The judge decided to delay the read back until Friday morning.

In a sweeping indictment, Melia and Lewis stand accused of sexually assaulting three teenage girls; Lewis faces additional charges against a teen boy.
