Moorestown Rec Hosts Special Needs Holiday Party

Special needs outings in January and February include a karate and potluck dinner and a rollerskating party.

About 60 individuals with special needs, their families, friends, and volunteers gathered for a holiday party this past Sunday at the . This event is one of the Moorestown Recreation Special Needs Advisory Committee's monthly outings.

The holiday party is one of the most popular events, featuring a DJ, crafts, pizza, desserts and, of course, Santa (Rick Young, of Moorestown). This year the Kendzierski family and their non profit, Elderberry Foundation Inc., gave generous gift cards to the special needs children, teens and young adults. The Moorestown Knights of Columbus made a substantial donation to help offset the cost of the DJ. Also, about a dozen students, most from the Moorestown High School Interact Club, came to volunteer and assist.

The January outing will be a karate and potluck dinner from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the recreation center. The February outing will be a rollerskating party from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at the International Sports Centre in Mount Laurel.
