Prayers, Encouragement Pour in for Brianna Wittman

The hospitalized Moorestown High School senior shows some progress in recovering from a serious car accident, according to an online journal.

As her classmates prepare to graduate tonight, Moorestown High School senior Brianna Wittman continues her recovery from a horrific car accident that left the 18-year-old in a coma.

The June 11 crash on I-295 caused Wittman to veer from the roadway and strike a tree, with head injuries at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

Since then, family, friends and the community have rallied around the teen—so far, mostly online as Wittman’s family posted on a website that she is not ready for visitors yet.

Cooper University Hospital declined to release Wittman’s current condition at the family’s request, and Moorestown school officials also declined to comment based on the family’s wishes. Moorestown Patch has been unable to reach family members for comment.

The family did set up a CaringBridge site where loved ones can monitor Wittman’s progress.

The latest journal posting, made on June 18 by brother Joey Wittman, reads:

“Brianna is doing well. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she STILL has a long road ahead of her. Brianna is not ready to have visitors at this time. She just needs a lot of rest right now!”

Wittman’s CaringBridge site has more than 1,100 visits so far, and many are leaving encouraging notes for the teen and her family.

…  You are a beautiful and strong young lady. I have been praying for you every day, actually, multiple times each day, since we received news of your accident. I know that God is listening to all the many prayers that are being said for you by so many people. I hope you feel all of this love. …

… I know when our children are hurt it leaves an empty space in a parent's heart.  We're all praying that you have a full and rapid recovery so the empty space in your mom's heart can be full again. God and His angels are watching over you.

Hey Bri ... I have been wearing the locket with the photos of you and Joey that you put inside - I am not taking it off until you wake up ... Get better soon because despite what people say - gold doesn't go with everything! Sending you well wishes all day, every day - Love you!

Friends have also taken to Twitter, using the hashtag #PrayforBrianna since the accident to show their support.

Wittman’s CaringBridge website requests prayers from well-wishers as the teen continues to recover.
