If you’ve visited the Moorestown Library lately, or even just driven by, you’ve noticed things have changed a lot in a short time, especially when it comes to parking. While it’s a welcome sign that progress has finally begun on our new town hall and library, we realize this situation will definitely take some getting used to. So, we at the library offer this list of FAQs to help us all get through the initial frustration.
Is the library open?
Yes! The library is open during our regular hours, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday ; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday.
What’s going on?
A fence now encircles the entire construction area, plus the parking lot, from Second Street to Third Street and from Washington Avenue right up to the side of the library facing the parking lot.
Where can I park?
Because the parking lot is closed, visitors to the library will now need to park in the municipal lot across the street, behind Peter Pan, and cross at the crosswalk to get to the library.
Is there any parking in the library lot?
The Third Street entrance remains open, with very few parking spaces in front of the Recreation Center still accessible. This allows delivery vehicles to access the library’s loading ramp at the back of the building and provides some convenient spaces for visitors to the rec. Please keep in mind that the back door of the library is ONLY for deliveries. If you wish to park in this area of the lot, you’ll still need to walk along Church Street and enter through the front doors.
What if I have a disability?
Several parking spaces at the front of the municipal lot are designated for handicapped parking.
How long will this last?
The new building is scheduled for completion in March 2014.
What I can do to make visiting the library easier?
Cross Second Street only at the crosswalk. This is the safest bet for you, and it is a courtesy to drivers.
Plan on arriving early for library programs. Especially if you are coming for children’s programs, you’ll need extra time to get the kids safely across the street.
Enjoy the show! Soon the site will be bustling with construction workers, materials and all kinds of interesting machinery. The library offers a great vantage point to see it all! Bring the kids into the Children’s Room for a front-row seat to the action.
Get familiar with our e-services. We hope you’ll keep visiting us throughout construction, but if the hassle starts to get to you, you can still use the library from the comfort of your home. Use our website to search databases, download e-books and audiobooks, check out our program schedules and renew and reserve materials.
We know this won’t always be easy, but when it’s all over, we look forward to welcoming you to a brand new Moorestown Library.
