Know someone who makes the community a better place? Then you might know Moorestown’s next Citizen of the Year.

The Moorestown Service Club Council—comprised of the Y Service Club, Lions Club and the Rotary clubs—is seeking nominees for the 2014 Citizen of the Year award.

In the words of the council, the award “recognizes a Moorestown resident who, through varied voluntary community service activities, has significantly contributed to the quality of life of both our community and its citizens.”

The 2013 Citizen of the Year was former school board member William Van Fossen III, who is also a former member of the YMCA board, a 30-year member of the Rotary, and co-organizer of the Scott Coffee Memorial 8K.

In 2012, the Moorestown Service Club Council selected longtime volunteer Douglas Sell as the Citizen of the Year, while Dave Schill was named the 2011 Citizen of the Year.

Proceeds from the annual Citizen of the Year award dinner will be used to support a local organization. Past year’s funds have been allocated to Moorestown High School for a “Good Citizen” scholarship, Lenola Emergency Unit for resuscitation dolls and the Moorestown Community House.

Nominations are due by Nov. 30. You can download the form here and drop it off at the Community House (16 E. Main St., Moorestown, Attn: Jeff Dey, SCC Chair) or email to jeffd@resourcerenewal.com. Hard copies of the form are also available at the township offices (2 Executive Drive) and the Community House.
