Candlelight Night Returns to Moorestown Main Street

Percheron horse-drawn carriage rides and a Historical Society fundraiser are among the many fun offerings at this year's event.

One of Moorestown's oldest holiday traditions returns Friday, with the annual Candlelight Night festivities on Main Street.

The unofficial kickoff to the holiday shopping season—now in its 37th year—kicks off at 6 p.m. Downtown merchants will stay open late, many offering food, refreshments and entertainment to draw in shoppers.

There's also a new addition this year: Percheron horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered. Rides are $5, and proceeds benefit the Percheron Park project. According to organizer Julie Maravich, the ride will do a loop up Main Street (starting at the site of the proposed pocket park) through the Friends School property, onto Prospect Avenue, then back up High Street to the site of the park.

The Historical Society will also host a fundraiser where wine, hors d'oeuvres and desserts will be served and guests can view the new "Moorestown During the Civil War" exhibit. The price is $15 at the door and all proceeds benefit the Society. To RSVP or for additional information, contact the Historical Society at moorestownhistory@verizon.net or 856-235-0353.
