Council Republicans Urge Support for GOP on Election Day

In a letter to the editor, the Republican members of Moorestown council urge residents to 'send a clear message' with their vote next week.

To the editor:

As members of your town council, we have been hard at work making our government live within its means and reducing the tax burden on Moorestown residents. We are lucky to have Governor Chris Christie committed to these same objectives on the state level. But unfortunately, Trenton politicians are doing everything they can to stand in the way of the governor’s common sense agenda.

Next Tuesday, Moorestown can help send a clear message that we refuse to accept the status quo of high taxes and runaway spending. Please join us in supporting our state senator, Diane Allen, and her running mates Anthony Ogozalek and Jeff Banasz for state Assembly. Moorestown deserves a team of legislators who stand up for taxpayers, who understand the importance of keeping communities like Moorestown flourishing, and who will help Governor Christie finish the job.

While the state level is important, we also need to make sure here in Burlington County we have responsible fiscal stewards at the helm. That is why we are proudly supporting Freeholder Director Joe Donnelly, Sheriff Jean Stanfield and County Clerk Tim Tyler for reelection this year. Director Donnelly has managed to reduce spending in the county from $227 million to $184 million, taken a voluntary 50 percent cut in his salary as freeholder, and has lowered property taxes every year he’s been in office.

Sheriff Stanfield has worked to reduce crime in our county, created a County Terrorism Task Force, provided home security for seniors, and worked to give county veterans a free photo ID to help achieve discounts with local merchants. County Clerk Tyler has managed to increase revenue without pushing for increased spending or taxation, and has worked hard to bring our clerk’s office into the modern age of technology.

Please join us in supporting the entire column 1 team on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
