Countdown to Parade Day

In this final week leading up to the 4th of July Parade, the Moorestown community has many themed activities to offer.

We are now one week away from the 4th of July and the noon step-off of the Parade! The list of participants is growing and so is our excitement to see them all walk through town.

In this final week before Parade Day, the Moorestown community has many themed activities to offer.

Tonight (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. at  in the East Gate shopping center, hear about Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell from authors Robert W. Sands, Jr. and Alexander B. Bartlett as they unveil their new book in the Images of America series.

For kids, the Moorestown Library has a variety of activities throughout the week. Their "Hooray for the USA" film festival wraps this afternoon (Wednesday) with the double feature The Smithsonian and the Presidency and The Music and Heroes of America (4:15 p.m.).

At 7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, enjoy late-night Lego fun with "Give Me Liberty and Give Me Legos!" Kids of all ages are invited to visit the library to craft Lego creations inspired by the great USA. All are reminded not to bring your own bricks.

Then return to the library Friday anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to craft a star-spangled firecracker hat to wear during the 4th of July Parade.

Continuing with tradition, kids are welcome to participate in the Parade itself by decorating their bikes, scooters or wagons and marching en masse (with a parent, please) to proclaim their pride in the red, white and blue. Watch our Facebook page for details on when and where to line up for the Parade.

Or, for those youths interested in history, the has invited kids to dress as their favorite historical figure and march with the Society. Look for all the details at the Society's Facebook page.

On Parade Day, look for the businesses along the parade route to be decorated in patriotic finery as they compete in the second annual Storefront Decoration Contest. Don't forget to stop in, say hi, and check out all that they have to offer.
