Youth Basketball League:

Congratulations to this week’s Civility Award Recipients: Giovanni
Augustine, Yazmine Wade, Philip Hoover and Liam Hughes.
Giovanni Augustine provides inspiration to his teammates and coaches alike. Yazmine Wade was commended for working extremely hard at practice, and carrying what was taught into the game and exhibiting great teamwork in the process. Philip Hoover was nominated for good sportsmanship and Liam Hughes was commended for playing even while hurt and providing unwavering support to his teammates.

One coach writes: "[This week's nominee] happens to be my son. His presence on the team that I so love to coach is truly a happy coincidence. [He] is not a star, not even a starter. He's my daily reminder that having fun and letting other children have their fun too is my responsibility. His is more than my assistant coach—he's my teacher. This [statement] is from a man who thought he knew better. Being in my 60th year, having two other adult children, the fact that I am being taught about love, kindness and true compassion for others by a 12-year-old is astounding. I am blessed by his presence. Thank you."

Thank you coach for sharing with us those wonderful words of civility.
