Your Library by the Numbers

Ever wondered what the library does, and what it can do for you? Here's a look at your Moorestown Library, "by the numbers."

The staff of the Moorestown Library is proud of the library's long history and the services we provide to our community every day. If you've ever wondered exactly what the library does, and for whom, here's a quick breakdown of our stats and services, using data through December 2010.

  • On average, 47 people visit the library every hour, every day. That amounts to 486 visitors per day, and 160,237 visitors in a year. 
  • Last year, Moorestown's 10,464 library cardholders borrowed 141,958 items and got answers to 8,163 reference questions.
  • Last year, library users logged on to use our 16 free public Internet computers a total of 24,905 times. 
  • The library owns 112,886 books; 5,521 videos; 992 music CDs; 4,246 audiobooks; and offers free ebook downloads for iPod and Nook (Kindle is coming soon!)
  • The library offers 10 weekly story times for children. Approximately 175 children paticipate each week. A brand-new story time for babies will begin this summer.
  • Last summer, nearly 1,000 children and teens participated in Summer Reading at the Moorestown Library. They read 5,954 books!
  • The Library's annual municipal appropriation is $1,521,352.
