Route 130 Tops List Of 12 Most Dangerous Places to Walk In New Jersey

In March 2011, Kelly C. Reed of Cinnaminson was killed as she crossed Route 130 at Cinnaminson Avenue

In New Jersey, there are few safe havens for walkers. But the threat is much worse on New Jersey's highways, and along the crosswalks that stretch across them, where wary pedestrians routinely dodge the oncoming traffic.

Now, too many of those same people, regardless of the circumstances, are dying.

The Tri-State Transportation Campaign determined the routes that have the most pedestrian deaths from 2009 through 2011, the most recent years available. The report, generated by the non-profit organization which seeks transportation reform in New York and New Jersey, detailed and designated a single most dangerous road per county in every county in the state. The term "most dangerous," as included in the report, refers to the number of pedestrians struck and killed.
