Army Vet Dies Within Days of Wife's Passing

Joseph T. DeLago was 90. A funeral service will be held this week at Our Lady of Good Counsel.

A 90-year-old Moorestown man died Monday within days of his wife’s passing.

Joseph T. DeLago, formerly of Haddonfield, attended the University of Kentucky and graduated from Villanova School of Engineering (‘47), where he received his Bachelor of Engineering degree. He retired from the Fischer & Porter Co., of Warminster, PA, after 35 years of service as a corporate officer.

Joseph served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, as well as the American Society of Corporate Secretaries, the American Society of Instrumentation and the Knights of Columbus.

Joseph and his wife, Dr. Louise DeLago—a longtime teacher, who died June 30, also at the age of 90—lived in the Bucks County, PA area for many years before moving to Haddonfield, where they lived until moving to The Evergreens in Moorestown in 2002.

Joseph was father of Donna Marie Rowe, of Wilmington, DE, Joseph  T. DeLago, Jr., of Moorestown, and Candida DeLago Schwartz, of Haddonfield; and brother of Frances Leadem, of Lincoln University, PA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and a great grandson.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W. Main St., Moorestown. A viewing will precede the service from 9-10 a.m. at the Lewis Funeral Home, 78 E. Main St., Moorestown. Interment will follow in General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
