Nancy Madara Secor, 56, of Moorestown, NJ, and Dillon, CO, passed on to a higher place on Sept. 4.
Nancy graduated from Moorestown High School in 1975, where she was known for her athleticism, leadership and sportsmanship, receiving the Eisenberg Award for “Best Female Athlete” as a key field hockey player. She graduated from Susquehanna University in 1979 after a career on the women’s field hockey team.
Summers were spent in Beach Haven, NJ, where she took part in competitive sailing and was a youth sailing counselor at Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club. Nancy shared her love for the water and sailing with her children.
She moved to Colorado in 1979—anticipating one winter ski season—fell in love with her husband, Stephen, the Colorado mountains, and never left. She worked for Keystone Resort, ultimately becoming director of the race department, captaining the Keystone sailboat summers on Lake Dillon.
Nancy started her own photography business from home, focusing on photographing sporting activities and high school senior portraits.
Friends, family and the community will always remember Nancy for her determination and selfless devotion to her family.
She is remembered by her husband Stephen and children Amy, Peter and Kelly; parents Constance and Samuel Madara; siblings Steven (Lin), Suzanne Coffee, and David (Lisa); and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at Beaver Run Resort, Breckenridge, CO, on Sept. 12. A future Celebration of Life at First United Methodist Church, in Moorestown, is also planned.
The family respectfully requests contributions be made to the Nancy Secor Memorial Fund, 1st Bank, PO Box 4457, Frisco, CO, or a charity of choice.
