Obituary: Philip J. Iapalucci

The attorney and former judge died on Tuesday.

Philip J. Iapalucci, 73 of Moorestown, NJ an attorney and former municipal court judge died Tuesday, July 01, 2014.  Mr. Iapalucci is survived by his wife Josephine of 51 years, his sons Philip J. Iapalucci and daughter-in-law Carol Iapalucci of South Bend, IN, Michael J. Iapalucci and daughter-in-law Rosemary Iapalucci of Washington, DC, daughter Lisa Cain and son-in-law Michael Cain of Moorestown and his 11 grandchildren Stephanie, Kathryn, James, Aiman, Maria, Anelle, Josephine, Margaret, Alec, Mitchell and Jessica.  Mr. Iapalucci is also survived by his sisters Katherine Vitullo of Maple Shade, NJ and Mary Palais of Prescott Valley, AZ.  He was predeceased by his youngest daughter Deana Iapalucci.

Mr. Iapalucci was a graduate of Rutgers University College of Arts and Sciences and School of Law in Camden, NJ.  He worked for 39 years in private practice as a criminal defense attorney and as a municipal prosecutor in the Townships of Voorhees, Pennsauken and Borough of Gibbstown.  Mr. Iapalucci was also the municipal court judge in Moorestown from 2005 to 2009.  He was a member of the New Jersey and New York Bar Associations.

Mr. Iapalucci was an avid hiker and environmentalist, a member of the Outdoor Club of South Jersey who led hikes and was well known for his efforts at cleaning up and preserving the Pine Barrens along with his encyclopedic knowledge of native plant species unique to the Pinelands.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing Monday, July 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, 78 E. Main Street, Moorestown, NJ.  A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church located at 42 West Main Street in Moorestown. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “PPA –Philip J. Iapalucci Pine Barrens Fund” to benefit preservation of the New Jersey Pinelands by New Jersey Conservation Foundation, The Pinelands Preservation Alliance and Rancocas Conservancy.
