Ellis Leroy Derry, a resident of Cadbury of Cherry Hill, previously a longtime Moorestown and Mount Laurel resident, died Thursday, Nov. 15, at the age of 95.
Derry was a graduate of North Plainfield (NJ) High School and Gettysburg College. During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater, and remained in the active reserve at the end of the war, retiring after 22 years with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
After leaving active duty in the Army, he worked as export manager for SKF Industries in Valley Forge, PA, for 30 years until his retirement in 1982. He was predeceased by his college sweetheart, Anita Conner Derry, after nearly 25 years of marriage.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Margaret Jane Derry.
He is the father of Douglass (Martha) Derry and Kathleen Mulligan (Raymond); stepfather of Marguerite Pollack and Thomas James Faulkner II; grandfather of Christina Derry Frangiosa (Vincent), Kenneth Derry, Travis Pollack, Corey (Leslie) Pollack, Michael Mulligan and Sara Mulligan; and great-grandfather of Jessica and Alexander Frangiosa, Zoe Pollack and Thomas and Charles Pollack.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown, 101 Bridgeboro Road. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the church.
