Corrective Muscle Therapy (CMT) includes a variety of established, manipulative techniques that target stiffness and pain resulting from a joint condition or other musculoskeletal injury.

“With extended hours, we can now treat patients with an acute issue the same day or next day,” says Frank Pileggi, PhD, RHP, who is also the Dean of Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies.  “Previously, special accommodations were made for those with serious, acute issues. In addition, our waiting list for regular patient hours was three to four months out. But now, with corrective muscle therapy progressively continuing to grow, we can offer more hours, ultimately treating patients in a more timely manner.”

For Burlington-area patients with acute treatment needs, four patient openings are reserved every day for those needing same day appointments.

Few, if any, conventional medical techniques target stiffness and/or pain resulting from a joint condition or other musculoskeletal injury. For that reason, Dr. Pileggi has become the referral of choice for many of the region’s major orthopedic centers, athletic trainers and primary physicians when patients need manipulative release of restricted musculoskeletal soft tissue.

“CMT integrates aspects of myofascial release, rolfing, trigger point and myotherapy, lymphatic massage, and Asian massage methods such as tui na and shiatsu into a unified approach to soft-tissue adjustment,” says Dr. Pileggi. “I treat a lot of sports-medicine patients and can address problems both acute and chronic.”

Conditions that he commonly works with include sprains, contusions, muscle spasms (caused by overuse or chronic tension), arthritis, rheumatic conditions, and postsurgical tightness or adhesions, as well as breaking-up scar tissue at the site of a joint replacement.

Since expanding practice hours at Burlington, patients have offered Dr. Pileggi positive feedback. “Patients are ecstatic about having greater availability. And we are thrilled to be able to meet patients’ needs.”
