74-Year-Old Slapped with DWI After Parking Lot Crash, Police Say

Also, Mount Laurel Police arrested three men on drug charges during a traffic stop on Fellowship Road.

Feb. 20

Burglary (Courts at Brookfield) — A burglar forced open the window of a residence on the unit block of Chapel Hill Road and stole an undetermined amount of jewelry, police said. The theft occurred between 9 a.m. Feb. 10 and 10 a.m. Feb. 20

Theft, 6-9 p.m. — Someone stole a PlayStation 2, valued at $100, from the craft room at the Mount Laurel Library on Walt Whitman Avenue, police said.

Criminal mischief (Essex Place), 7 p.m. — Police said someone threw a rock through the window of a residence on the 4100 block of Grenwich Lane, causing an estimated $300 damage.

Theft, 7 p.m. — Someone stole several cell phones and accessories, valued at more than $1,300, from Verizon Wireless on Dearborn Circle, according to police.

Feb. 21 

Arrest (DWI), 1:31 a.m. — Police arrested Benjamin J. Wurst, 31, of the 1000 block of Monmouth Road, Deptford, after he was stopped on Route 38, according to a report. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Fraud, 7:33 a.m. — Someone drove off without paying for $15 worth of gas at the Lukoil on the 900 block of Route 73, according to police. 

Burglary — A burglar forced open the front door of the offices of Timothy M. Prime LLC, Attorney at Law, on the 300 block of Fellowship Road, and stole several blank business checks from a desk drawer, police said. Damage is estimated at $500. The burglary occurred between 8 a.m. Feb. 14 and 11:22 a.m. Feb. 21.

Shoplifting, 7:50 p.m. — Someone stole $491 worth of over-the-counter medication from the CVS on Route 38, police said. The suspect is described as a black male, who fled the area in a silver four-door vehicle. 

Feb. 22 

Arrest (DWI), 7:27 p.m. — Police arrested Roberta Price, 74, of the unit block of Briarcliff Road, Marlton, after she was involved in a motor vehicle accident in the Chili’s parking lot on Church Road, according to a report. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Theft, 9:30-10 p.m. — Police said approximately $16,000 worth of hydraulic jacks and metal racking beams were stolen from behind Inventek Cleaners on Gaither Drive. 

Feb. 23 

Criminal mischief (Larchmont) — Someone scratched a vehicle parked on the 500 block of Willow Turn, police said, causing an estimated $500 damage. The incident occurred between 11 p.m. Feb. 22 and 11 a.m. Feb. 23. 

Theft, 4:18 p.m. — Someone stole an iPhone, valued at $200, from a bench in the YMCA locker room, police said. 

Criminal mischief, 4:30-7:50 p.m. — Police said someone damaged a mailbox on the unit block of Broadacre Drive. Damage is estimated at $150. 

Feb. 24 

Arrest (drug possession), 2:56 a.m. — Police arrested Timothy Steinmetz, 23, of the 200 block of Countryside Lane; Jesus Pabon, 44, of the 100 block of Remington Street, Camden; and Dane Carver, 23, of the 2600 block of Yarmouth Lane, after they were stopped on Fellowship Road for a motor vehicle violation, according to a report. Steinmetz, Pabon, and Carver were each charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and Steinmetz was also charged with possession of heroin, police said. All three were served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Feb. 25

Stolen vehicle — Someone stole a 2006 Toyota Scion, valued at approximately $8,000, from the parking lot of Sports of NJ on Federal Street by breaking a window, police said. The theft occurred between Feb. 23 and 12: 27 p.m. Feb. 25.

Arrest (false police report) — Police arrested Charles B. Watts III, 52, of the 2400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Philadelphia, for giving them false information, which implicated another person in a motor vehicle accident, according to a report. He was charged with filing a false report and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Burglary (Bedford Walk) — Someone forced their way into a home on the unit block of Oakhurst Lane through a rear window and stole an undetermined amount of jewelry, according to police. The incident occurred between 6:30 a.m. Feb. 23 and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 25. 

Arrest (possession of marijuana), 8:14 p.m. — Police arrested Brett M. Edwards, 23, of the 1600 block of 47th Street, Pennsauken, and Charles A. Salerno, 26, of the 100 block of Beechwood Avenue, Maple Shade, after they were stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Route 38, according to a report. They were each charged with possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Arrest (hindering) — Police arrested Tyrell D. Kellam, 27, of the 200 block of Ohio Street, Union, after he gave them false information in an attempt to avoid arrest on an outstanding warrant, according to a report. He was lodged at the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $3,500 bail. 

Feb. 26 

Burglary — Someone cut a padlock and stole copper core and ballasts, valued at approximately $2,700, from a residence on the 100 block of Creek Road between 3 p.m. Feb. 25 and 8:30 a.m. Feb. 26, according to police. 

Arrest (hindering) — Police arrested Jose L. Rodriguez, 33, of the 200 block of Boyd Street, Camden, after he provided false information in an attempt to avoid arrest on outstanding warrants, according to a report. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Feb. 27

Arrest (DWI), 1:19 a.m. — Police arrested Russell Vancuren, 24, of the unit block of Madison Avenue, Maple Shade, after he was stopped on South Church Street, according to a report. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.
