Adolescent Archers' Burglary Plan Backfires: Police

Mount Laurel Police say two young boys stowed away inside Dick's Sporting Goods last Friday with plans to rob it. They failed.

A pair of amateur Robin Hoods (or maybe Katnisses?) riddled Dick's Sporting Goods with arrows last Friday after they hid out inside the store, according to police.

Mount Laurel Police said two boys from Maple Shade—one 11, the other 13—hid inside the store on Nixon Drive and emerged after it was closed to steal merchandise.

Apparently the boys got distracted from their mission, and shot up the store with arrows, damaging several displays, before breaking into an ammunition cabinet.

The boys weren't as clever as they thought however: Their activity tripped the store's burglar alarm, which alerted police. The pair of young archers were taken into custody and charged with burglary and criminal mischief. One of the boys was also charged with resisting arrest.

Because of their age, police did not identify the boys.
