Each week, Patch combs through the more shocking, surprising and often absurd alleged criminal acts and police-related incidents that unfold around the region. Here’s what went on last week for “OMG PD.”

The wanderers: It sounds like something out of a bad movie plot——but that’s exactly what happened, according to Cherry Hill Police. The two men—one from California, the other from Arkansas—pulled two such jobs at the Cherry Hill Mall in February, and have been charged, but remain on the loose, according to police.

That’s not part of the plan: An alleged copper thief thought the coast was clear when he decided to cut some pipes in the basement of a Collingswood apartment building, police said—only problem was, an off-duty officer had just returned home, and the coast went from clear to cloudy in a hurry.

This won’t end well: A Maple Shade man took a bad situation and made it much worse, involving police from multiple towns after he took off from a drunken-driving crash in Cinnaminson, police said. Pennsauken officers spotted Jonathan Steele, and he was eventually arrested by Maple Shade police shortly after the crash.

Fumbling in the eyes of the law: A Moorestown High School football star who’d already been in some trouble with police ended up even deeper after allegedly attacking a man to steal his backpack, police said. Tyreek Robinson ended up in the Burlington County Jail on aggravated assault and robbery charges following the alleged attack.

Sign of the times: A Paulsboro couple who allegedly spent eight months harassing their neighbors, who have a child with autism, tried to get their indictment dismissed, claiming a grand jury got bad instructions. But a judge disagreed with 46-year-old Douglas M. Scheuerer and his 50-year-old wife, Donna Ricotta-Scheuerer, whose actions included allegedly taking a "SLOW - CHILDREN AT PLAY" sign and modifying it to read "SLOW, HEALTHY, NORMAL CHILDREN AT PLAY," leaving them to face bias charges.
