Burglars Hit Homes, Vehicles in Moorestown Neighborhood: Police

Moorestown Police are investigating another rash of vehicle burglaries—the third in the last month—along with a pair of residential burglaries.

Another Moorestown neighborhood was hit by opportunistic burglars overnight Tuesday, according to police.

Moorestown Police said two homes and five vehicles were burglarized in Moorestown Hunt—behind the Upper Elementary School—sometime after 2 a.m. Wednesday. One of the homes and three of the vehicles were unlocked, police said.

Police are investigating the following break-ins:

  • A home on the unit block of Fieldstone Way was burglarized through an unlocked garage door and a purse was stolen.
  • A residence on the unit block of Gladwynne Terrace was burglarized through an unlocked front door. An iPhone 5 was stolen.
  • Two unlocked vehicles were burglarized at a residence on the unit block of Heather Lane. Christmas presents were stolen from one vehicle.
  • An unlocked vehicle was burglarized in the unit block of Bramley Road, with loose change stolen.
  • A vehicle in the unit block of Dogwood Road was burglarized by smashing a window.
  • A vehicle in the unit block of Fieldstone Way was burglarized by breaking a window and a cell phone charger was stolen.
The residents of the residential burglaries were home asleep and not injured.

Police urge residents to keep doors closed and locked overnight, and when they're not home.

Though police have no leads yet on these most recent burglaries, Lt. Lee Lieber said young people are typically the culprits, oftentimes involving individuals with drug problems.

This is the third rash of vehicle burglaries to occur in the last 30 days. Earlier this month, five unlocked vehicles were burglarized, while a sixth vehicle—an unlocked Lexus with the keys inside—was stolen. And last month, burglars broke into a dozen vehicles in the Laurel Creek development, and in several cases used rocks to smash their way in. Both cases are still under investigation.

Anyone with information on these crimes is urged to contact the police department at 856-914-3092. Promptly report suspicious activity by calling 856-234-8300. And always call 911 for crimes in progress.
