Cinnaminson Man Threatens Police with Sledgehammer

Police said they found almost a pound of marijuana in his home.

Cinnaminson Police were dispatched to a home on Fairfax Drive Monday to investigate threatening telephone messages left on a neighboring family's answering machine, according to police.

The homeowner, Michael Banas, 51, allegedly became enraged and was screaming at police, threatening them with a sledgehammer.

Police were able to convince Banas to put down the sledgehammer and subsequently sprayed him with pepper spray when he moved toward an officer in a threatening manner. He was taken into custody.
