Contractor Ripped Off Couple: Police

Moorestown Police say a Pennsylvania man got paid a hefty rate to do a less-than-stellar job sealing a couple's driveway.

Police charged a Pennsylvania man after they claim he did a shoddy job sealing a Moorestown couple’s driveway.

According to Moorestown Police, Stephen Mitchell, 37, of Street Road, Trevose, was hired to seal a Woodlane Road couple’s driveway—and was paid $3,750 to do so—but used an unknown substance. Mitchell also allegedly employed a juvenile to assist him and did not have a permit to perform the work.

He was charged with theft by deception, employing a juvenile in a crime, and violation of a township ordinance for not having the permit. Mitchell was released on a warrant.

Sgt. Lee Lieber said police were able to get the couple’s money back quickly.
