Driver Killed After Crashing Into Construction Vehicle

The unidentified male driver was declared dead at the scene, while a female passenger was taken to Cooper Hospital for injuries.

A driver headed north on the New Jersey Turnpike in Mount Laurel was killed Wednesday morning after he crashed his sport-utility vehicle into a parked construction vehicle.

State police said the driver—who was still unidentified as of this afternoon—crashed his 2010 silver Chevy Traverse into a construction vehicle parked in a construction zone around 11:50 a.m near mile marker 31.1. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.

The driver was declared dead at the scene, according to state police. A female passenger was injured and taken to Cooper University Hospital. The extent of her injuries was not known.

State police said the vehicle was registered in North Jersey, but did not know if that was where the driver was from. 

The left lane of the turnpike was closed for part of the afternoon, causing significant delays.
